This policy describes the website at anyonlineruler.com, provided under the name Any Online Ruler. It explains the ruler’s data handling, browser storage and the choices available to you.
Measurements stay in your browser
The ruler calculates distances on your device. It does not upload the objects you measure, take photographs, or request access to your camera, microphone or location. Credit card calibration uses the width of an on-screen outline; it does not ask for a card number, cardholder name or image.
Screen information used for calibration
Auto-detection reads information your browser makes available, such as screen dimensions, pixel ratio, platform and browser identifiers. On supported Android browsers, it may request a device model through browser Client Hints. This information is processed locally to choose a compatible display profile or a generic estimate, and to recognize matching saved calibration settings.
Local storage and your choices
The application uses local storage to remember your light or dark theme and your saved calibration. Calibration includes the scale, method and a signature based on screen dimensions and pixel ratio. These settings remain in that browser until they are replaced or you clear the site’s stored data. Your ruler marker positions are not saved as measurement history.
You can remove these settings through your browser’s site-data controls. If storage is blocked, measuring still works for the current visit, but preferences may not persist.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand visits and usage of this website. Its Google tag sends website usage information to Google and can set first-party cookies, including cookies used to distinguish visitors and sessions. The ruler does not send measurement values or saved calibration settings as custom analytics events.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Google also provides an Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Learn more about Google Analytics cookies and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Website delivery and technical data
Loading a website requires your browser to connect to its hosting infrastructure. Those requests expose technical information such as your IP address, requested URL, browser headers and request time to the hosting service. Hosting or security services may retain access logs according to their configuration and policies. Browser-local measurement processing does not prevent this ordinary network activity.
Contact messages
If you contact us through a published email address, your email provider and the receiving provider process that message. The recipient receives the address, content and any attachments you choose to send. Messages may be used to answer your request or investigate a reported problem. Include only information needed for the request; do not send payment card details or other sensitive information.
External links
Some answers link to third-party documentation, including Microsoft support pages. Following a link takes you to another service, whose own privacy policy applies. The ruler does not control how those websites process information.
Privacy questions and changes
You can clear locally stored preferences yourself. For questions about other information you have provided, use the contact details on our Contact Us page. Privacy rights and available remedies depend on applicable law.
This policy may be updated when the service or its data practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision.
